Omaha Poker Strategy

This happens a lot more than you might think. New players often get a run of decent cards (or so they think) that actually hold up, and or suck out to take down massive pots. At least with NL Holdem you might, as a rookie know that you got lucky, but with Omaha 8, that may not be the case as there are just too many things happening too qucikly to take in before the next hand comes along.

Case in point is this video where a newbie has some early tournament fortune where after just a few hands has eliminated a player already and then more than tripled his stack.

If you follow along though, his VPIP is off the charts (a good sign of a weak player) and this strategy leads to his eventual downfall. I like to watch these players and really, I am hoping they get a whack of chips because it's not too difficult to take chips from them afterwards. They will not fold to bluffing, but niether will they fold to quality hands, so that's exactly what you have to play with against them.
